Schools fundraise for Children in Need 2015

Students across the Academy trust put on a variety of fundraising events for this year's Children in Need.

Thomas Gainsborough school supported this year's efforts by inviting students to dress as superheroes, followed by Coupals Primary Academy, Newmarket Academy and Samuel Ward who also opted for a day of fancy dress in aid of the charity.

Students and staff at Newmarket Academy raised a massive £1004.25! Head of School, Mr Froy, was hugely impressed with the total raised, "Our students and staff are fantastic at supporting worthy causes. From paying for the priviledge to come in non uniform & organising and holding cake sales, I believe all my staff and students are heroes and today has just proved what a fantastic bunch they are! Well done Newmarket Academy."

23 Year 8's at Samuel Ward Academy aimed to swim the equivalent of the French Channel by November. However, by the end of their allotted 9 weeks of swimming, they had by far surpassed their initial target, and had completed over 111 miles around the French coast. Their superb effort was confirmed with their front-row seats at this year's Children in Need live show in Great Yarmouth, where the team were interviewed by Look East's Susie Fowler-Watt as they presented their donation.

As Children in Need day came around, the whole school got involved - students donned fancy dress, sold cakes and undertook sponsored silences in aid of the charity, with the Sixth Form organising a dodgeball tournament! Together with the Swimathon team the school was able to raise over £3000.
