A particular highlight was seeing the smiles on children`s faces

In our next interview with our primary schools about the phased reopening, Ben Jeffery, Headteacher of Glemsford Primary Academy, talks about what the first few days have been like...

"The first couple of days have gone really well. I am sure everyone was a little nervous on Monday morning - staff, parents and pupils alike. ButĀ thanks to all the hard work and preparation, things went really smoothly.

Parents were very understanding and were very patient especially at the start and the end of the day. Several parents sent lovely supportive messages saying how my amazing staff had really put their minds at ease.

We focused on having fun, being safe and getting into routines. A particular highlight was seeing the smiles on children`s faces at the end of the day when they told their parents what a great day they had had. Also seeing our children play in the playground while sticking to social distance rules.

Staff haveĀ been amazing. They have worked tirelessly to get ready for this week. They have been positive and always looked for solutions and have gone above and beyond over the past three months and I am incredibly proud of them."
